    Bouldr in Satnav

    Yo,

It’d be awesome to be able to export the climbs data from the Bouldr application and download it into my TomTom satnav.

Here’s some reference material regarding POI databases in TomTom http://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/

    Interesting!

It’d probably be most useful if the locations of carparks near to the destination crag were downloadable as well as the location of the crag itself. What do you think?

I’ll put it on the list though!

That makes good sense – so if indeed it’s worth implementing this then it should be possible to add “Car Park” to each climb, and to be able to choose existing car parks near by (within x km/mi) when adding the car park (e.g. spatial sql query) would be a must – as most problems/routes will share a pre-existing car park that only needs entered once.

In fact, on entering a climb a spatial sql query should determine the nearest pre-entered car park to the climb and default to it.. with an option for “Use another car park?”.

Of course, if no-one else would use this functionality don’t waste time on it!

I think we’ll probably just allow the addition of car park POI’s then we can generate the name of the POI (“Parking near Stanage Plantation”) automatically from the data we have. That way we’re not adding complexity to the climb editor and the POI feature can be added unobtrusively.

I’ve added it to the list, but I’m a bit bust at the mo, so we’re going to finish off our current projects and decide what to do next. The list is getting really long!
