You can add problems via the app – tap to view your guidebook, then pull the table down, and you should see an option to add a problem. Each climb can also be edited from the app – tap the edit button when viewing the climb, and you’ll be taken to the editor.

Once you’ve returned home or got access to WiFi, sync the app, and your submissions will be sent up to Bouldr.

If you have any problems, please do get in touch!

I would like to be able to use the guidebook to take pics while at the spot and edit on location. I went to a spot this weekend based on my guidebook. I am new to bouldering, but the ability to edit or use the guidebook as a checklist was not very easy, it really just showed me the area, but no specific problems, i’d like to change that.

thanks matt good stuff. no i understand the guidebook now, maybe what im looking for is some clarity in the map we use for guidebooks, what if it was more like the map we have in explore, where we can see all the climbs and then able to make hour guidebook around that climb (just be able to make that perimeter around the blimp exactly where the climb is), i feel that in the map we use you cannot see exactly where the climb is

Hi James,

The app actually used to work in the way you describe – there was nothing saved to the phone, with requests for data being made as needed. The problem is that in many climbing locations, there is rarely any decent reception.

The switch to using guidebooks allows you to download the climb data to your phone before setting off – there is no network lag, and reception stops being an issue once the data is on your device.

Maybe being able to define a guidebook on the phone would be a solution for this problem? What do you think?

Cheers!

hey, i could be wrong but i dont really see a reason for guidebooks. the whole thing of having a smartphone like the iphone is so you dont have to get to a computer. it should be quick on-the-go thing. wouldnt it be a much stronger app if we could use the explore option on out iphone, have that whole map come up almost like google maps using gps to find the closest place to climb near where we are at the time? and be able to also search the country or the world for climbing spots in the palm of your hand? have a favorite climbs folder where we can edit climbing and share with others. just an idea but it seams like going to your computer to make guidebooks defeats the purpose of the app, thank you
