help us learn to climb

My fitness instructor wife LOVES to climb and I want to learn a new sport (I’m an avid mountain biker) so we can exercise together. Her last climb was Ancient Art Tower in Moab (yeah the same one you see in the commercial that’s running all the time). We also have "climb all the 14ers in Colorado on our “bucket list” and we’re not getting any younger. 8-(

We’re both in great shape, fearless (our friends call us the “Adventure Rangers” and our kids can’t keep up with us). We also have great outdoor resources and experience to get to remote climbs and camp onsite (Winnebago View 24.5’ Mercedes turbo diesel RV, heavily modified & lifted Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, mountain bikes, backpacks, ets.) and have traveled to all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and New Zealand.

What’s the best way to learn this sport?

What equipment do we need to get started?

How do we find experienced climbers to “show us the ropes”?

Let us hear from you. We’ve both “paid it forward:” by helping a LOT of people learn other sports (gymnastics, mountain biking, 4-wheeling, etc.) and we’d like some climbers to do the same for us.

Thanks!

Don & Lori

warm weather...the snakes may turn some off

It’s warm, there are snakes about and spiders but arm yourself with a heavy mat and a steel brush and get out here for some bouldering. I’m new on bouldr but am enjoying exploring this country of Australia now that I’m back home and getting on some local rock. If you’re local in Victoria or just passing through shout out and I could be free. prefer boulder play and sports routes to trad and multi pitch.

BC climber new to forum

Hey, just signed up and have been climbing for about 1.5 years, bouldering for about a year. Judging by the average number of replies to introductory posts, I expect to hear little to nothing in return. If anyone is from the Van city area and looking to climb, let me know! I climb 5.11, V4-5

Greetings

Just thought I would tip my hat, be polite and say hello. New to the forum and sort of new to the world of climbing. I used to climb quite a lot when I was younger, mainly in Awesome Walls Liverpool and a few days out in Pexhill and Parbold Quarry. Live up in Catterick but still have roots in Liverpool if anyone fancies bouldering somewhere. Even if only to laugh at my really bad virgin style climbing!

I live in the Chapel Hill area, climb many days during the week at Forest Theater, and take trips almost every weekend to Pilot locally, and go to western NC for longer trips. Hit me up for some climbing.
